Is There Really Such a Thing as a 100% Paperless Workflow in Real Estate?

Is there really such a thing as a 100% paperless workflow in real estate? 5 years ago, we may not have thought so – but I wouldn’t say so now. When we look at workflow, we have to look at stages. For example, when helping a buyer find a home, first there is the application/initial engagement stage, then researching properties, then showing properties, then making an offer, counter offers, all while supporting the client through doing what’s necessary to waive conditions.

The historic challenges with having a paperless journey in real estate have been a combination of limitations on technology and limitations with respect to the law.

Many consumers don’t realize that you, the real estate sales professional, have to navigate a TON of legal documents so up until last year, the law created barriers in that you had to physically go to your customer’s home to sign offers, counter offers, waivers and other legal documents. The most flexibility that existed was the ability to fax and email documents back and forth.

The beauty of technology and changes that have been made to the laws is that not only can you and your client now sign your real estate documents electronically, but you can actually collaborate on deals with one another using mobile apps like ViMO.

Many thought when ViMO launched that it would act much like an MLS system – a place to post and research properties - but it is so much more than that! It’s actually an app that is a marketing tool that lets you post your listings and promote them.

Much like Facebook or Twitter, you can get socially connected to your colleagues and if they are using the same technology you can collaborate on your deal not only electronically signing documents but also digitally transmitting them back and forth. This digital collaboration alleviates the need for paper contracts and a maelstrom of emails and faxes.

Is a 100% paperless workflow possible? We believe so, and while many real estate brokerages are moving in this direction, in years to come this practice will become the norm.

Staying ahead of the curve means starting the learning now and it’s not that difficult.

  • Invest in an iPad
  • Research and install some apps – both personally and professionally
  • Start the process of playing around and easing some work functions over to your tablet that you may have previously done on paper or on your computer and presto…

In no time at all you will be a paperless real estate sales machine!!

Going paperless isn’t a pipedream - let ViMO help you get started. Call 1 855 999 8466 (VIMO) today.
